If the patient’s eyes are swollen, physical therapy and medication can be used to reduce the swelling and relieve the discomfort. If the patient’s discomfort is obvious, and there is difficulty in opening the eyes, we should be alert to orbital wall fracture, and recommend timely consultation, orbital CT examination, and if necessary, consider surgical treatment. 1. Physiotherapy: when the eyes are swollen, cold compresses can be applied to the eyes within 48 hours, which is helpful to promote the contraction of capillaries and reduce the local exudation, thus relieving the symptoms of edema. 48 hours later, it can be replaced by hot compresses to the eyes, which is helpful to improve the local blood circulation and make the symptoms of edema subside by appropriate hot compresses. 2. Medication: If the symptoms of oedema are serious and accompanied by obvious bruising and pain, the doctor can guide the application of drugs such as Yunnan Baiyao, Bundu Pill, Panax ginseng tablets, etc., which will help to promote the dissipation of the symptoms of oedema as soon as possible, and alleviate the symptoms of local bruising and pain. 3. Surgery: If the symptoms of edema are not significantly relieved through the above conservative treatment, and accompanied by obvious eye pain and inability to open the eyes, the patient should be alert to the possible existence of orbital fracture. If the patient is diagnosed with orbital wall fracture by perfecting the relevant examination, he/she should receive timely surgical treatment to prevent the orbital muscles from being embedded for too long and to avoid the loss of muscle function. It is recommended that patients with significant post-traumatic eye swelling should seek prompt medical attention to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
