Does vomiting throw up feces?

When a low intestinal obstruction occurs, the contents of the bowel, i.e., fecal contents, may be vomited.
The obstruction site of low level intestinal obstruction is usually in the ileum, colon or rectum. Generally speaking, the vomit is stomach contents in the early stage, bilious liquid in the middle stage, and fecal contents after fermentation in the later stage, which is often accompanied by a rotten odor.
In addition to vomiting, patients with low-level intestinal obstruction may also suffer from abdominal pain, abdominal distension, and cessation of defecation, etc. Excessive vomiting may also lead to systemic water-electrolyte and acid-base imbalance, decrease in blood volume, and even shock, respiratory and cardiac dysfunction. X-ray examination can be used to help identify and diagnose low level intestinal obstruction.
If the above symptoms occur, it is recommended to seek prompt medical attention to clarify the cause of vomiting and to carry out treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
