Can cerebral arteriovenous fistulas be cured?

Dural arteriovenous fistulas (cerebral arteriovenous fistulas) are completely curable and with aggressive and reasonable treatment, patients usually have a good prognosis. Patients with arteriovenous fistulas with a history of intracranial hemorrhage, unacceptable intracranial murmurs, progressively worsening neurologic deficits, and localized pressure ischemic symptoms require aggressive treatment. Conditions requiring emergency surgical management include cortical venous drainage with intracranial hemorrhage, multiple venous sinus and venous thrombosis, significant dilatation or impaired reflux of veins, and symptoms of progressive increased intracranial pressure.
