Why is it that the magic “back pain” comes and goes in a hurry?

Ms. Su is 30 years old and is an ordinary worker in a food processing plant. One day, when lifting heavy things in the factory, Ms. Su felt her waist “thump” twisted, followed by unbearable pain in the waist, and could not even straighten up. Her colleagues around her rushed to dial the phone to “120” for help. The young emergency doctor immediately arranged for Ms. Su to perform a lumbar spine CT examination, which showed a bulging disc in the lumbar 4/5 vertebrae, so the spine surgery consultation was requested. The consulting doctor carefully looked at the film and asked about the medical history, and then examined Ms. Su’s lumbar muscles and found that she had lumbar muscle tension, significant pressure pain next to the lumbar 4 and 5 spinous processes, percussion pain, slight lumbar scoliosis, negative straight leg raise test, no lower limb muscle strength loss, no significant lower limb sensory loss, numbness, and then diagnosed as lumbar small joint disorder. Then, the consultation doctor asked Ms. Su to sleep to the bed, only to hear a “thump”, the doctor then confidently asked her to try to get up and move around. Ms. Su could not believe her ears and thought she had heard wrong, but after confirming again, she slowly straightened her back with her hands on the bed, full of doubts. But then, a miracle happened! When Ms. Su stepped on the ground with both feet and straightened her waist, her back pain disappeared completely and her back movement was painless! Ms. Su was overjoyed and praised the doctor for his “magic” and “miracle”. After that, the doctor told her to go home and rest in bed for three days, wear a waist brace for two weeks, and gave her some painkillers and muscle relaxers to take when she had a back pain attack. In this way, Ms. Su’s sudden back pain was miraculously cured! It comes in a hurry: mostly caused by “flashing back”. What’s going on here? “To explain how this dramatic “back pain” was caused and how it ended, we must first understand the originator of the incident, namely the small joint disorder of the lumbar spine diagnosed by the consulting doctor. Medically speaking, the small joints at the back of the lumbar spine are micro-movement joints, and the forward flexion, back extension and left and right rotation of the lumbar spine are achieved by intervertebral joint activities. When the human waist due to incorrect posture and sudden flash setback, resulting in uncoordinated contraction of the lumbar muscles, so that the lumbar spine posterior small joint misalignment, the loose synovial membrane embedded in the joint gap, may cause lumbar pain, lumbar activity is limited, this is the so-called lumbar small joint disorder. Simply put, lumbar spine small joint disorder is a sudden misalignment of the small joints at the back of the lumbar spine and synovial imbrication. The disease is a common clinical injury caused by external forces, mostly in the category of “acute lumbar sprain”, the patient often accidentally “flash waist” committed pain. In mild cases, there is limited lumbar pain or swelling, but in severe cases, there may be sudden onset of severe lumbar pain, and can be radiated to one lower limb, the waist or can only remain in a particular position, coughing, sneezing, deep breathing, urination and defecation, etc. can make the pain worse. There are also a few chronic cases (disease duration more than 1 month) with no obvious history of trauma, which can be triggered by some inadvertent lumbar activities, sprains, strain accumulation, etc., resulting in dull pain, swelling and discomfort in the lumbosacral region. Middle-aged people with straightened lumbar curvature and degenerative changes of the lumbar spine have reduced stability of the lumbar intervertebral joints and are more likely to produce lateral displacement of the intervertebral joints, especially after exertion and cold in the lumbar area. This also reminds us that in daily life and work need to be reasonable “waist”, the need to bend over to complete the action to bilateral knee flexion squatting posture to complete, and sweeping, mopping and other actions must be half bent over to pay attention not to maintain the posture for too long, to remember to stretch in time to relax the lumbar muscles. Patients suffering from lumbar muscle strain can apply hot compresses to the lower back 2 to 3 times a day for about 20 minutes each time. During daily rest we can perform exercises such as badminton, swimming and pull-ups to strengthen the muscles of the lumbar back, thus effectively preventing the onset of lumbar small joint disorders. On the other hand, it should be noted that because the disorder injures the nearby tendons while the joints are misaligned, its symptoms are often similar to those of lumbar disc herniation, but without the nerve root irritation symptoms of lumbar disc herniation, which can be distinguished by lumbar spine X-ray, CT or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Go to the rush: all depends on the magical manipulation reset. As to why the back pain can be relieved quickly, it is attributed to the unique method of restoration, so that the misaligned small joints can be restored instantly, the knot is removed, and the pain naturally disappears without a trace. For those who still have lumbar pain or lumbar movement disorder after the manual reset, or who also have lumbar disc herniation, further lumbar magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination should be performed to clarify the diagnosis and improve the treatment plan. The effect of manual repositioning is immediate. Clinically, for those who suffer from lumbar spine small joint disorder, it is often necessary to correct the small joint misalignment by side-lying oblique wrenching method to achieve the effect of pain relief. The operation steps are: the patient takes the side lying position, the affected side is on top, the hip and knee joint is semi-flexed, the healthy side leg is straight, the upper body is naturally relaxed position. The doctor’s forearm and wrist palm of one hand against the patient’s shoulder and chest, the other elbow and the upper part of the forearm against the hip first lightly shake the lumbosacral several times, so that the waist passive rotation to the maximum, the two hands force to the opposite direction wrenching. During treatment, a “thumping” sound can often be heard, which is the same as the sound of the patient’s injury, suggesting that the manual reset has been successful and the pain can mostly disappear immediately. In addition, the method of correcting misalignment also has the prone posterior extension tilt method and the sitting rotation method, but the side-lying tilt method is more convenient to operate.
