What is the redness on the sides of the nose?

Redness on the sides of the nose may be associated with localized irritation or diseases such as seborrheic dermatitis, rosacea or systemic lupus erythematosus.
1. Localized irritation: Generally, physical irritation on both sides of the nose, such as squeezing the sides of the nose with an instrument, can lead to localized redness.
2. Seborrheic dermatitis: Seborrheic dermatitis can cause inflammatory reactions in the facial area such as nasolabial folds, beard and other areas of the face, and then lead to erythema, flakiness and other lesions when there is colonization of Malassezia bacteria, impaired barrier function of the skin, or immune abnormality.
3. Rosacea: formerly known as rosacea, related to genetics, skin immunity and abnormal vasodilatation function, often occurring in the middle of the face, symmetrical erythema can appear on the nose, thus causing redness on both sides of the nose.
4. Systemic lupus erythematosus: it is an autoimmune disease, when caused by facial lesions, there can be skin butterfly-shaped erythema or disc-shaped erythema, which can also cause redness on both sides of the nose.
If the cause of redness on both sides of the nose is unknown, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to clarify the cause of the disease, and then follow the doctor’s instructions to treat the cause and symptoms.
