Croup is a barking cough, hoarse speech and inspiratory croup. Croup is a collective term for laryngeal, tracheal and bronchial diseases caused by different etiologies. It can occur throughout the year, with a high prevalence in the fall and early winter, and children between the ages of 6 months and 3 years old are susceptible to the disease.
1. Barking cough: This is the most typical manifestation of croup, the child has a persistent cough that sounds like a puppy’s yelp “empty, empty, empty”, a very characteristic sound. The sound is very characteristic. The child is usually relieved during the day and aggravated at night.
2. Hoarse speech: the child has a persistent cough with a hoarse sound, and the pitch of the speech becomes low and coarse, and in severe cases, there is a loss of voice.
3. When the child inhales, the airway makes a sharp, loud creaking sound.
When the child makes the above sounds, it is necessary to actively seek medical treatment and systematic examination in order to clearly diagnose whether it is croup.
