Paraplegia does not recover on its own. Paraplegia is paraplegia caused by a transverse lesion of the spinal cord above the second thoracic vertebra. Because the spinal cord shock period will be longer in severe spinal cord injury, it will cause motor disorder of limbs, sensory disorder, urinary and fecal disorder, high fever, excessive sweating and so on. Paraplegia is mostly caused by trauma, spinal cord lesions, spinal stenosis and congenital spinal cord lesions. Patients with paraplegia will be left with serious sequelae because of the severe spinal cord injury and the nerve cells will not regenerate after damage. If the spinal cord damage is relatively mild, some of the symptoms can be relieved with active surgery, medication, physical therapy, and rehabilitation with Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion. However, there will still be sequelae, the serious ones can cause complete paralysis, long-term bed-ridden, and can be complicated by lung infections, bedsores, deep vein thrombosis of the lower limbs and other complications. Respiratory failure and asphyxia may also occur in upper cervical cord injury, so the prognosis is mostly bad.
