What’s wrong with the dry pain at the connection between the nose and the mouth?

The connection between the nasal cavity and the oral cavity is called the nasopharynx. If pain and dryness occur in this area, there are generally two diseases: i. Acute nasopharyngitis. Second, tumors associated with the nasopharynx. Acute nasopharyngitis is secondary to acute rhinitis, acute sinusitis, acute tonsillitis and acute pharyngitis, all of which are acute inflammatory infections that migrate to the nasopharynx, resulting in dryness, pain and foreign body sensation in the nasopharynx. On examination, the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx is obviously congested and edematous, and the surface is covered with yellowish crust. The patient will have a dry throat and sore throat, and the nasopharynx will be sucked back with purulent secretions. In the treatment, first of all, we need to treat the original disease, symptomatic anti-inflammatory treatment can be oral cefixime, amoxicillin, and can also be combined with nebulized inhalation, budesonide nebulization, twice a day, to reduce the congestion and edema of the nasopharynx mucosa, about a week can gradually heal. Tumors in the nasopharynx can be classified as nasopharyngeal carcinoma or lymphoma. Examination can reveal a cauliflower-shaped neoplasm or a crater ulcer at the top of the nasopharynx or pharyngeal crypt, which can cause dryness, pain, and blood in the nasopharynx. If a mass is found, local pathology needs to be taken first, and then radiotherapy or chemotherapy is required if the diagnosis is confirmed.
