Consequences of untreated glenoid labral injury

Traumatic glenoid labral injuries can be treated with an MRI of the shoulder to determine the severity of the labral injury. If the labrum is only slightly damaged, conservative treatment can be considered; if the labrum is severely damaged, surgery should be considered. If the glenoid labral injury is left untreated, it can lead to habitual dislocation of the shoulder. The glenoid labrum is located in the glenoid of the shoulder joint, and it has the function of reinforcing the humeral head and preventing dislocation of the humeral head. If the clinical injury is very severe, it may lead to habitual dislocation of the shoulder joint. For such severe glenoid labral injuries, most recommend arthroscopic treatment, where the ruptured glenoid labrum is arthroscopically repaired to provide reinforcement of the shoulder joint.
