Can nasal polyps be malignant?

The pathological nature of nasal polyps is an inflammatory lesion of the nasal mucosa, polyps are hypertrophic and extremely edematous, with lymphocytes, plasma cells and eosinophils infiltration, which is not neoplastic, and it does not matter whether it is malignant or benign. Nasal polyps are a common disease of the nose, mostly seen in adults. They occur in the sieve sinus, maxillary sinus, middle nasal tract, middle turbinate and sieve follicle. Posterior nostril polyps are mostly from the maxillary sinus, falling into the posterior nostril through the natural opening of the maxillary sinus, the onset of which is related to metaplasia and chronic inflammation. Nasal malignancy may present with unilateral progressive nasal congestion, recurrent small amount of rhinorrhea or bloody pus with foul smell, deformation of the external nose, facial numbness, severe migraine, and neoplastic organisms in one side of the nasal cavity and other clinical manifestations. Pathologic biopsy helps to differentiate the two.
