Instructions for use of telmisartan tablets

Telmisartan tablets are used for the treatment of essential hypertension and should be administered on an individual basis. The usual initial dose is 1 tablet once a day. The dose may be increased if the desired blood pressure reduction is not achieved after administration, with the maximum dose being 80 mg once daily. This drug is used in combination with thiazide diuretics, such as hydrochlorothiazide. Such diuretics have a synergistic hypotensive effect with this product, and the maximum efficacy of the drug is achieved only 4-8 weeks after treatment, so when increasing the dose of the drug, it should be considered whether it is a combination. The dosage should not be adjusted in patients with renal insufficiency. In case of mild and moderate hepatic dysfunction, the drug dosage should not exceed 1 tablet per day, i.e. 40 mg. Adverse drug reactions commonly include back pain, chest pain, flu-like symptoms, urinary tract infections, such as cystitis, and occasionally gastrointestinal system symptoms, such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, and dyspepsia.
