What is the long, strong echoes seen in the liver?

Long, strong echoes in the liver may be caused by intrahepatic bile duct stones, cystic degeneration of the liver, and trauma to the liver. 1. Intrahepatic bile duct stones: This may be due to the presence of stones or calcification in the intrahepatic bile ducts of the patient, which can be seen as obvious strong echogenic masses with clear edges or with acoustic shadows at the back of them on the liver and gallbladder ultrasonography. 2. Cystic degeneration of the liver: some patients with cystic degeneration of the liver may have calcified foci at the edge of the liver, and when the ultrasound examination is performed, there may also be a long strip of strong echoes. 3. Liver trauma: If the patient has a history of liver injury resulting in hepatic contusion, localized calcium deposition may occur after treatment, and long, strong echoes may also appear on ultrasonography. Therefore, patients are advised to undergo further detailed examination to clarify the cause and target treatment.
