Talking about incisional hernia of the abdominal wall

It is a common complication of abdominal surgery and can lead to gastrointestinal obstruction, etc. It cannot heal on its own and requires surgery. Traditional abdominal wall hernia repair is performed by directly suturing the defective tissue with sutures, or repairing the larger defect with its own tissue, which has a higher tension during suturing and a higher recurrence rate. In recent years, tension-free hernia repair with artificial patches has been used, resulting in a significant reduction in the recurrence rate of abdominal wall hernia. Increasingly, incisional hernia surgery is being done laparoscopically. The advantage of this procedure is that it is truly a tension-free repair underneath the defect and allows for the discovery of hidden defects that are difficult to detect with conventional open surgery, and has the advantages of mild postoperative pain, rapid recovery, and short hospital stay.
