Half of the body numb to what department

Patients who have numbness in half of the body should consult a neurologist. If half of the body is numb, if it appears suddenly, acute cerebrovascular disease, such as transient ischemic attack, cerebral infarction or cerebral hemorrhage, will affect the patient’s sensory nerve center, resulting in numbness and pain in the lateral limb. The lesion may be located in the thalamus or in the brainstem. If the lesion is in the brainstem, the patient may also have symptoms of impaired movement. If the patient has symptoms of numbness in half of the body slowly, and gradually progresses and worsens, it is considered to be caused by brain tumor disease. CT and MRI of the head should be done to clarify whether it is caused by intracranial occupying tumor, as well as to clarify the nature of the tumor and to make the next plan.
