A lump on the neck that does not hurt or itch

A lump in the neck that is not painful or itchy is commonly associated with the occurrence of thyroid disease. Benign tumors are common, mainly thyroid adenomas, or nodular goiters. As the disease develops, the tumor becomes gradually larger and also shows painful manifestations. On examination, the lesion has smooth surface, clear boundary and good mobility. It may also appear as a swelling with intact envelope, which should be promptly examined by color ultrasound, and if necessary, surgical removal can be chosen. The cause of thyroid tumor is considered to be related to the abnormal metabolism of thyroxine in the body, which occurs more often in middle-aged and elderly women, and may even appear, secondary to hyperthyroidism, manifesting as hypermetabolic symptoms. It is important to have regular thyroid function measurements.
