If the fever is of physical origin, such as post-surgical or post-traumatic absorption fever, it is usually not life-threatening. If it is an infectious fever or bacterial infection, it can be cured without affecting the life if treated properly. If it is a viral disease, there is no definite treatment and life expectancy will not exceed one month if the disease is repeatedly untreated. Autoimmune diseases have recurrent fevers but are generally more sensitive to hormones, immunosuppressants and non-steroidal antipyretic analgesics, and have a longer life expectancy of several years. On the other hand, it depends on the frequency and temperature of the fever; generally the higher the frequency and temperature, the shorter the life expectancy.
