Helicobacter pylori is contagious.
H. pylori is a common microaerobic bacterium that can be transmitted through the digestive tract, intimate contact such as kissing with a person infected with H. pylori or sharing utensils with the patient may be infected, so H. pylori is contagious, often on a family basis.
H. pylori infection may be asymptomatic, or it may lead to gastritis, gastric ulcer, gastric cancer and other diseases such as acid reflux, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, pain in the upper left abdomen, hiccups, bloating and other gastric symptoms. To avoid transmission of H. pylori among people, it is recommended to segregate tableware and drinking utensils when eating and drinking, and avoid intimate behaviors such as kissing with H. pylori infected people.
