Is urological surgery minimally invasive?

Many times, a child’s disease will inevitably require surgery. Many parents ask their doctors, “Can we do this surgery minimally invasively? Today we talk about one of the most prominent types of minimally invasive surgery, laparoscopic surgery in pediatric urology. Laparoscopy has become completely prevalent in our medical routine, and almost all deep surgeries, except superficial surgeries that do not require laparoscopy, can be solved by laparoscopy. Although the deep organs in the body undergo massive “rehabilitation”, only a few millimeters of superficial scars are left, if any at all. The lumpectomy is the first choice for parents because of its minimal trauma, quick recovery and aesthetic appearance. So many parents, as soon as they hear that their child needs surgery, ask the doctor: Is this surgery minimally invasive for me? When we surgeons do surgery, our primary consideration is to ensure the safety of the child, and then work to repair the child’s lesion. Our hospital was one of the first medical units in China to perform pediatric laparoscopy. We have repeatedly upgraded from the most rudimentary equipment back then, and simple superficial surgeries have changed to almost all deep surgeries. From simple exploratory surgery to complex reconstructive surgery, all can now be done laparoscopically. Laparoscopic surgery has the most visual and visible features, as evidenced by the lack of significant scars. We use several millimeter diameter operating instruments to enter the body through a puncture point on the surface and perform various operations under the supervision of a lens. The incision, hemostasis, and suturing required for open surgery …… can be done laparoscopically with the help of a competent “weapon”. In the field of pediatric urology, from the most common intra-abdominal cryptorchidism, to hydronephrosis, repair of various ureteral obstructions, to one of the most complex surgeries in this specialty, ileal bladder enlargement for neurogenic bladder, we can do it all under laparoscopy. At present, we are the first to introduce the SPIES imaging platform, a German KARL STORZ ultra-high definition laparoscopic system, which makes the surgical field clearer, the recognition of tissues higher, and the surgical efficiency higher. the CLARA function of the SPIES imaging platform can make the narrow cavity of pediatric brighter; after the CHROMA function, it makes the surface and edge of tissues sharper, thus making the operation more smoothly.
