A large piece of earwax like membrane in the ear is considered to be cerumen in the external ear canal, and the methods of removing it include ear canal flushing method, suction method and cerumen hook removal method.
1. Ear canal flushing method: When the cerumen is hard, sodium bicarbonate solution can be dropped to soften the cerumen first, and the cerumen can be softened to clean it. Saline can be used to flush the ear canal to remove the cerumen from the external ear canal.
2. Cerumen hook removal method: If the cerumen is soft, a cerumen hook can be used to gently insert the cerumen directly into the deeper part of the ear canal and slowly hook out the cerumen.
3. Suction method: For patients with narrow external auditory canal, this method can be used. The operation should be carried out under the clear vision of otoscope, and the cerumen will be sucked out by the suction device, and the suction force should be moderate so as not to damage the eardrum.
If the above symptoms occur, it is recommended to ask a professional doctor to remove the cerumen to avoid damage to the eardrum, affecting the hearing, and avoid digging the ears by oneself.
