What is schizophrenia?

Schizophrenia is a group of psychiatric disorders of unknown etiology, usually starting in the 20s and 40s, but also in adolescents, either slowly or rapidly. Patients with a slow onset may show some early signs that are not easily recognized, such as a withdrawn personality, anxiety or depression, and personality changes that may make them less socially acceptable. Some people may have strange behaviors, such as talking to themselves or making strange movements, and some people may have emotional changes, such as being particularly resentful or passive, which are all signs of schizophrenia. Usually when you notice these abnormalities in people around you, you should take them to the hospital as soon as possible.
