Four Gentlemen Pill is effective in benefiting qi and strengthening the spleen (regulating the qi of the spleen and stomach) and is used in treating qi deficiency of the spleen and stomach, reduced diet, distension and fullness of the epigastrium (abdomen), loose stools, and lethargy (tiredness and fatigue). Si Jun Zi Wan is a proprietary Chinese medicine. It is composed of Codonopsis, Fried Atractylodes, Poria, and Roasted Licorice. Adverse effects of the drug are not clear. It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to the product, and should be used with caution for those with allergies. It should not be taken by patients with solid internal heat or cold and fever. This drug is not suitable for patients with yin deficiency of the spleen and stomach (deficiency of yin fluid in the spleen and stomach), which is characterized by dry mouth, red tongue with little fluid, and dry stools. Avoid cold, greasy, spicy and indigestible food while taking the medicine. Sijunzi Pill should be used under the guidance of a doctor’s diagnosis, and should not be used blindly, so as not to aggravate the condition or cause adverse consequences.
