Indications for radiofrequency ablation of premature ventricular contractions (PVCs)

Radiofrequency ablation of premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) is an indication that should not only be strictly controlled, but also not be inappropriately “highly selective” to deprive the patient of the opportunity for radical treatment. (2) A range of symptoms associated with PVCs that have significantly compromised the patient’s quality of life (3) Treatment with more than one antiarrhythmic drug has failed or is intolerable (4) No background of organic heart disease or evidence of organic heart disease following PVCs (5) No transient factors contributing to the development of PVCs (6) The patient has actively chosen this treatment. In particular, we emphasize the need for radiofrequency ablation to restore normal sinus rhythm in “hypersensitive individuals” who are particularly sensitive to PVCs and have a complex set of symptoms, whether due to their own causes (psychological) or to exogenous factors (medical), which have resulted in a severe decline in the patient’s quality of life.
