How is glaucoma classified?

There are many types of glaucoma, and the pathogenesis of various glaucomas is different, and some of them are still unexplained, so any classification method about glaucoma is inevitably a little one-sided and not perfect. China’s current clinical glaucoma is commonly divided into four major categories, as follows: 1, primary glaucoma, according to the atrial angle open and closed, and divided into primary open-angle glaucoma, open-angle glaucoma in the past has a name called chronic simple glaucoma, normal intraocular pressure glaucoma, rare atrial fluid over-secretion glaucoma. Closed-angle glaucoma has acute closed-angle glaucoma, divided into six stages, in the past it is often divided into preclinical, prodromal phase, that is, the aura phase, and the clinical acute phase, and intermittent phase, chronic phase and absolute phase, chronic closed-angle glaucoma is also divided into iris expansion type, iris high fold type, and a rare disease called ciliary ring obstructive glaucoma, commonly known as malignant glaucoma; 2, secondary glaucoma. Glaucoma is caused by other diseases in the eye, and is classified according to the cause as glaucoma secondary to inflammation, ocular trauma, lens disease, fundus disease, primary corneal endothelial lesions, surgery, pigmentary glaucoma, exfoliation syndrome, glucocorticoid glaucoma, and tumor; 3. Glaucoma with two or more types of glaucoma at the same time; 4. Congenital glaucoma, which is caused by abnormal development of the atrial angle structure, is divided into infantile glaucoma, developmental glaucoma, and glaucoma combined with other congenital abnormalities.
