Popliteal cysts are a level of surgery

A popliteal cyst is a cystic tissue lesion that forms in the popliteal fossa at the back of the knee and may cause compression of surrounding tissues. In contrast, popliteal cyst surgery is relatively simple to perform and is generally a level II procedure.
In clinical surgery, the level of surgery can be assessed according to the difficulty, complexity, and risk of surgery, which is generally categorized into level 1, level 2, level 3, and level 4 surgeries, the higher the level, the greater the difficulty and complexity of the surgery, and the greater the risk. And the specific requirements are different for different levels of surgery.
Popliteal cysts are anesthetized under a subdural and the cyst is identified and completely removed through an opening in the back of the knee joint to relieve pressure on the surrounding muscles, nerves, and so on. It is recognized as a level II procedure because of the average complexity of the surgery and the relatively low technical requirements.
The surgery is performed by a specialized physician.
