What are the symptoms of rhinitis

Inflammatory diseases of the nasal cavity are collectively referred to as rhinitis. There are acute rhinitis, but also chronic rhinitis, drug rhinitis, atrophic rhinitis, dry rhinitis and caseous rhinitis. And people call allergic rhinitis and sinusitis also rhinitis.

The symptoms are not exactly the same for all different kinds of rhinitis. Acute rhinitis, commonly known as a cold; the main symptoms include general malaise, fever, headache, nasal congestion, especially at night, and sneezing, watery or mucopurulent nasal discharge. Chronic simple rhinitis, the main symptoms are intermittent and alternating nasal congestion, which is lighter when lying down and heavier on the lower side when lying on the side. Nasal secretions are mostly mucus or mucopurulent, and there may be discomfort of swelling and pain at the root of the nose, and there may be symptoms such as loss of sense of smell. In chronic hypertrophic rhinitis, nasal congestion is heavy, mostly persistent, with occlusive nasal sounds and hyposmia, and nasal discharge is not much, but may be mucus or mucopurulent. Drug rhinitis, caused by long-term inappropriate intranasal medication, may appear persistent nasal blockage. The main symptoms of atrophic rhinitis are dryness of the nose and nasopharynx, rhinorrhea, nasal congestion and loss of sense of smell, headache and dizziness, and a foul odor in the nose. The main symptoms of dry rhinitis are dryness of the nose, nasal bleeding and itchy nasal cavity.

When the nasal cavity is blocked, or when there is nasal discharge, do not use drugs on your own to avoid aggravating the symptoms. You need to visit an otolaryngologist to get proper treatment.
