Shan Jiang is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine, which is used as medicine for the rhizome of Shan Jiang (山姜), a plant of the family Zingiberaceae, with a pungent and warm flavor, and is attributed to the stomach and lung meridians. It is effective in dispelling wind and clearing collaterals, in addition to regulating qi and relieving pain (relieving pain by unblocking qi), and is used in the treatment of cold pain in the epigastrium and abdomen, coughing and wheezing with cold in the lungs, paralysis and pain from wind-dampness, bruises, irregular menstruation, and vomiting of blood due to labor injuries. The adverse effects of Shan Jiang are not known. Contraindications are unclear. Precautions are not recommended for people with yin deficiency and fire exuberance (deficiency of yin essence in the body and hyperactivity of deficiency fire).
