What are the manifestations of Damp-Heat and how to regulate it

According to the different parts of the body invaded by the evil of dampness and heat, it is often manifested as Upper Jiao Damp-Heat Syndrome, Middle Jiao Damp-Heat Syndrome and Lower Jiao Damp-Heat Syndrome, which need to be adjusted with medicines after identification by Chinese medicine practitioners.
1. Upper Jiao Damp-Heat Syndrome: It refers to the symptoms reflected in the early stage of the invasion of the body by the evils of damp-heat, with the location of disease in the lungs and the skin. Symptoms include severe coldness (fear of cold), mild fever, heavy head, tiredness of limbs, tightness in the chest without sweating, white and greasy moss, and slow and moist pulse. The management is mainly to move qi and eliminate dampness, and can be regulated with medicines such as Shangjiao Xuanpao Tang as prescribed by the doctor.
2. Middle Jiao Damp-Heat Symptom: It refers to the symptom reflected in the middle stage of the body when the evil of damp-heat invades the body, and the disease is located in the spleen and stomach.
Symptoms include body heat (feeling hot all over the body, but the skin is not so hot when touched), heat in the afternoon, plumpness and distension in the epigastrium (stomach and abdomen), vomiting, thirst and not drinking much, and yellow urine and loose stools (thin and unshaped feces). To strengthen the spleen and harmonize the stomach, clear heat and dissolve dampness, medicines such as Puerariae Scutellariae Lian Lian Tang can be used to regulate the condition as prescribed by the doctor.
3. Lower Jiao Damp-Heat Syndrome: Damp-heat evils accumulate in the lower jiao, and the disease is located in the large intestine and bladder. Symptoms include urinary retention (incomplete urination or inability to urinate), thirst and lack of drinking, or inability to pass stools, hardness and fullness of the abdomen, yellowish or whitish coating on the tongue, and moistening of the pulse. To clear away heat and remove dampness, use Bazheng San and other medicines as prescribed by the doctor.
