Acute otitis media can be categorized into acute suppurative otitis media, acute secretory otitis media, and air pressure injury otitis media, which may be caused by bacterial infection, immune response, and rapid drop in air pressure. 1. Acute suppurative otitis media: Acute suppurative otitis media may be caused by the infection of pathogens such as Haemophilus influenzae, hemolytic streptococcus, pneumococcus and so on. The main infection pathway is the Eustachian tube pathway, when the patient has an upper respiratory tract infection, the bacteria will pass through the Eustachian tube to infect the middle ear. Tympanic membrane trauma or tympanic membrane puncture can also lead to pathogen invasion of the middle ear to cause disease. 2. Acute secretory otitis media: Acute secretory otitis media is mainly caused by upper respiratory tract infection, Eustachian tube dysfunction, metamorphosis and other factors that can lead to middle ear infection and effusion and cause disease. 3. Barometric pressure otitis media: when the patient rises or falls rapidly during diving or flying, it may lead to middle ear injury and cause barometric pressure otitis media. It is recommended that patients diagnosed with acute otitis media, follow the doctor’s instructions for systematic examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment.
