Is it important to have a low platelet width?

Low platelet width, if only a single index change, consider the uniformity of platelet distribution is normal, no need for additional treatment.
Platelet width refers to the distribution of platelet volume, and low platelet width refers to the small coefficient of variation of platelet volume. If there is an increase in platelet width, it indicates that platelet volume is not uniform in size, and if the platelet width decreases, it indicates that platelet volume is uniform in size.
1. Normal human platelet width is 15%~20% of normal value. If there is an increase in platelet width volume, it indicates that the platelet volume may be unevenly sized due to chronic granulocytic leukemia, splenectomy, and megaloblastic anemia.
2. If the platelet width is low, it can be normal physiological fluctuation, or it can be considered as the uniformity of platelets caused by the decline of hematopoietic function, but the specific situation also needs to be combined with the blood cell count to make a comprehensive judgment.
If abnormal platelet width and abnormal platelet counts are found during blood tests, you should go to the hematology department of a regular hospital immediately.
