Does a normal heart ultrasound mean the heart is okay?

A normal heart ultrasound does not necessarily mean that there is no problem with the heart. Cardiac ultrasound is mainly to see if there are any functional and structural abnormalities in the heart, and does not reflect all heart problems. Some patients have no problem with the ultrasound, but have symptoms of heart disease, such as panic, shortness of breath, palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), pain in the anterior region of the heart, etc., and need to be combined with other tests to determine whether there is heart disease. Cardiac ultrasonography mainly observes whether there is any abnormality of heart valves, whether there is any enlargement of atria and ventricles, whether there is any thrombus, pericardial effusion, whether the ejection fraction is normal, etc. For some arrhythmia, myocardial ischemia, abnormal heart sound, it is also necessary to do an electrocardiogram, physical examination, coronary artery angiography and other tests to comprehensively analyze the situation. If you have occasional cardiac discomfort, you can’t simply do a cardiac ultrasound, but go to the cardiology department, and the doctor will combine the patient’s symptoms to give the appropriate examination, and treat the patient according to the specific situation. Do not blindly think that there is no heart disease if the heart ultrasound is fine, so as not to delay the condition and cause serious consequences.
