What drugs to take for epilepsy in children

There are more than a dozen anti-epileptic drugs on the market, such as sodium valproate, Toltea, lamotrigine, etc. It is not possible to generalize which drug to take, but it is necessary to choose different drugs in combination with the patient’s condition, type of epilepsy, age and gender. In general, it is better to take sodium valproate for generalized seizures and carbamazepine and oxcarbazepine for partial seizures, and if one drug is not effective, it can be changed to another drug or more than two drugs. For intractable epilepsy (refractory epilepsy), you can choose to add new antiepileptic drugs, such as levetiracetam, lamotrigine, and dutasteride. Compared to traditional antiepileptic drugs, new antiepileptic drugs have fewer adverse drug reactions and fewer drug interactions.
