Are Bone Density Tests Harmful?

Bone density testing is not harmful.
Bone density test is a standardized dual-energy X-ray examination through an instrument to detect the density of bone, which is important for determining osteoporosis, osteochondrosis and other diseases.
Dual X-rays have much less radiation than X-rays, similar to playing with a cell phone, and are standardized to check the spine plus the hip and, in some cases, the distal radius. The amount of radiation is very small and the damage to the body is minimal, even so, special populations such as pregnant women and children still need to be tested as prescribed by their doctors.
Ultrasound, which is generally used for bone density screening, is radiation free and does not cause any harm.
Regardless of the type of bone density test, it is beneficial to the diagnosis of the disease, and should be performed in cooperation with the doctor in case of need.
