Zinc Sulfadiazine Ointment is a topical ointment belonging to the sulfonamide antibiotic class, which can be applied directly to the wound, followed by a sterile gauze bandage, or applied to a sterile gauze patch over the wound. Zinc sulfadiazine ointment is used for the treatment of secondary wound infections of second and third degree burns, including drug-sensitive Enterobacteriaceae bacteria, as well as infections with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus, and Candida. Usage: after disinfecting the wound with antiseptic solution, the drug can be applied directly, after which the wound is covered and bandaged with sterile gauze; the drug can also be applied directly on top of sterile gauze, after which it is applied to the wound, and then bandaged with sterile gauze; sterile gauze coated with ointment can also be put into the pus cavity to drain the pus. Adverse reactions include local rashes, pain, contact dermatitis, allergic reactions, etc. Prolonged use in large quantities may lead to a lack of reduction of neutrophils, as well as thrombocytopenia, aplastic anemia.
