Can you do a nucleic acid test with a fever

Nucleic acid tests can be done for fever. Fever may be a symptom manifested after infection with novel coronavirus pneumonia, but it may also be caused by cold viruses; general nucleic acid test is usually chosen for throat swab test, which only needs to collect respiratory secretions from patients, and the test result will not be affected when fever is present. Therefore, the nucleic acid test can be done for fever. If you live in a medium-high risk area and have fever symptoms, a single negative nucleic acid test result does not exclude the possibility of being infected and requires self-isolation for observation. Multiple nucleic acid tests are also required during isolation. If the person with fever lives in a low to medium risk area and has no history of close contact, isolation is not required if the nucleic acid results are negative. During the outbreak, if fever symptoms occur, prompt nucleic acid testing is recommended to screen for infection with the new coronavirus.
