A sac that grows near the vagina and anus may be a Bartholin’s gland cyst. There is a gland on each side of the vaginal opening called the Bartholin’s gland, also known as the vestibular gland, which has a secretory function. If the ducts of the glands are blocked, fluid accumulates in the glands and a cyst forms, so it is called a Bartholin’s gland cyst, which manifests itself as a lump on the vulva, located between the vagina and the anus. If the Bachmann’s gland cysts are infected, there will be localized redness, swelling, heat and pain. It is advisable to come to the hospital for further examination to see if it is a Bartholin’s gland cyst.
