Patients with hypertension can do moderate intensity aerobic exercise, which is known to lower blood pressure, mainly by walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, and other rhythmic exercises that can drive a large number of muscle groups. The warm-up and cool-down period before and after the main exercise is 5-10 minutes of stretching or low-level aerobic exercise, with a frequency of at least three days per week, which can benefit from daily exercise. The intensity of exercise is defined as about 60-80% of the patient’s maximum heart rate, the formula for maximum heart rate is maximum heart rate = 220 – the patient’s age. High-intensity exercise is not beneficial for patients with hypertension, and the duration of each exercise session is about 30-60 minutes. When starting an exercise program, if the patient is intolerant to longer periods of exercise, the initial period can be 10 minutes, gradually increasing to 30 minutes per day.
