Herpes zoster is a varicella-zoster virus (VZV) infection, and the course of treatment for herpes zoster generally takes about 10-14 days, according to the standards of the clinical pathway for herpes zoster set by the National Health Council. The following criteria are used to determine how herpes zoster should be cured: 1) no new erythema or blisters on the skin, the primary lesions tend to fade, the herpes surface dries up and crusts over, no signs of herpes fluid exudation or secondary bacterial infection of the herpes wall. 2) no abnormalities in the peripheral nerves involved in the disease, commonly the trigeminal nerve, intercostal nerve, radial nerve, ulnar nerve, sciatic nerve, common peroneal nerve, etc., and no abnormalities in the lesion site and related radiation. The pain level of the lesion and the associated radiating area is significantly improved or even disappears.
