Difference between Cistanchis and Lockjaw

The main difference between Cistanchis and lockjaw is the medicinal properties. There is basically no difference in their efficacy and clinical application. Difference in medicinal properties: Cistanchis is warm in nature, sweet and salty in taste, and belongs to the kidney and large intestine meridians; lock yang is warm in nature, sweet in taste, and belongs to the liver, kidney and large intestine meridians. The basic effects of both Cistanchis and Cistanches are tonifying kidney yang, benefiting essence and blood, moistening the intestines and laxatives. They can be applied to deficiency of kidney yang (lack of yang energy in kidney), deficiency of essence and blood, soreness and weakness of waist and knees, fear of cold, weakness of muscles and bones, impotence and infertility, and constipation with dryness of intestines and bowels. The adverse effects of Cistanchis are not clear. It is contraindicated for people with yin deficiency (deficiency of yin and essence in the body, and hyperactive fire) and loose stools (thin and unformed feces) and diarrhea, and is not recommended for people with solid heat in the stomach and intestines and solid heat constipation. The adverse reactions and contraindications of Lock Yang are not clear, and it is not recommended for people with yin deficiency and yang exuberance, loose stools in spleen deficiency, or constipation with solid heat.
