Do you need to check the red blood cell pattern if there are no red blood cells in the urine test?

Urinalysis without red blood cells is usually not necessary to check the red blood cell morphology, because the urine red blood cell morphology test is to determine the source of hematuria.
Hematuria means that if the microscope under each high magnification >3 red blood cells, most commonly seen in urinary tract infections, stones, glomerular disease and so on. Ordinary urinalysis can only determine the presence or absence of red blood cells, urinary sediment microscopy can further determine the source of hematuria by observing the morphology of urinary erythrocytes, which is divided into glomerulonephritis and non-glomerulonephritis.
1. Glomerular origin: when the glomerulus is damaged, the red blood cells will be squeezed through the damaged glomerular basement membrane, which can be manifested as glomerular hematuria of varying sizes and morphology, commonly seen in glomerulonephritis and lupus nephritis.
2. Non-glomerular hematuria: when the red blood cells in the urine have a single morphology, similar to that of peripheral blood, it is non-glomerular hematuria, which can be seen in urinary stones, urinary tract infections, etc. If there are no red blood cells in the urine test, it is necessary to take a urine test.
Urinalysis without red blood cells, should be based on the symptoms, other test results to determine whether the disease state, it is recommended in the regular hospital under the guidance of doctors to clarify the diagnosis, standardized treatment.
