Acupuncture points for the treatment of post-stroke symptoms

The sequelae of stroke include slurred speech, limb weakness, dysphagia, hemiplegia and other manifestations. Acupoints commonly used for treatment include Dicang, Lianquan, Houxi, Hangzhong and so on.
1. Dicang is located on the face, 0.4 inches (finger inches) away from the corner of the mouth. It is mainly used for treating crooked corners of the mouth, salivation (drooling), facial pain and toothache.
2. Lianquan is located in the anterior neck area, above the laryngeal node, in the depression of the upper edge of the hyoid bone, and on the anterior median line. It is used for treating stroke aphasia, mute speech (sudden loss of voice), dysphagia, sublingual swelling and pain, mouth and tongue sores, laryngeal paralysis (redness, swelling and pain in the pharynx, or dryness, foreign body sensation, or itchy discomfort in the pharynx, dysphagia), and so on.
3. Houxi, located in the inner side of the hand, the 5th metacarpophalangeal joint ulnar proximal red and white flesh intersection (the junction of the heart of the hand and the back of the hand, the heart of the foot and the back of the foot) in the depression. It is used for treating headache, lumbar and back pain, contracture of fingers and elbows and arms, deafness and redness of the eyes.
4. Hanging Bell, located on the lateral side of the lower leg, 3 inches above the tip of the ankle, the anterior edge of the fibula. It is used for the treatment of dementia, stroke, strong neck pain, fullness and pain in the chest and ribs, and impotence and paralysis of the lower limbs (lower limb weakness, numbness and pain).
