There are two possible reasons for this situation: the first is a deformity of the rib cartilage. Once a long period of repeated excessive activity on one side of the limb or a strong movement or labor is performed, it can stimulate the rib cartilage of one side of the chest or even the whole side of the chest, resulting in a deformity of the intercostal joint of the local rib cartilage along with the cartilage and the thoracic rib joint. The deformity of the intercostal joints, along with the cartilage and the sternocostal joints, will cause the whole rib cage to appear significantly raised. In the second case, scoliosis may cause the rib cage to protrude on one side and the rib cage to be depressed on the other side, mainly because the rib cage on one side is pulled due to the scoliosis of the spine, and the rib cage on the other side appears to protrude. Once the symptom of one rib protruding more than the other appears, a local radiological examination should be performed promptly to rule out related diseases.
