In most cases, cholesterol crystals are caused by an imbalance in the ratio of cholesterol to bile acids in the bile, where too much cholesterol forms crystals and adheres to the wall of the gallbladder. If cholesterol crystals persist and worsen, they can lead to cholesterol stones. Therefore, patients with cholesterol crystals must be controlled and treated as soon as possible, including proper diet control, increasing the amount of exercise, drinking more water to prevent the concentration of bile, and giving cholagogic drugs if necessary to promote the discharge of cholesterol crystals and to effectively control the progress of cholesterol crystals. In terms of diet control, we should minimize oily foods, including fried, spicy and stimulating foods. Foods with high cholesterol content, such as egg yolk, animal offal and nuts, should be controlled. It is also important to quit smoking and drinking, drink more water and exercise to promote bile dilution and cholesterol crystals excretion.
