The healing process of venous ulcers

Lower extremity ulcer formation is the most common complication of venous disease of the lower extremities and the most difficult and recurring complication. If treated properly at different stages, it is completely possible to heal and reduce the chances of recurrence. The following case is a typical healing process of an ulcer in a patient with varicose veins and ulcers of the lower extremities. The patient is a 57-year-old female patient with recurrent varicose ulcers of the lower extremities for 10 years without any other special medical history, admitted to the hospital for examination: the left lower extremity is slightly swollen, the skin temperature is slightly high, superficial varicose veins are visible in the left lower extremity, the muscle tone of the left calf is high, obvious large area of pigmentation is visible, about 8×8cm2 size trauma is visible in the left calf in front of the shin, a large amount of secretion and exudate is visible on the trauma. At the early stage of admission, he was given anti-inflammatory treatment, improved circulation, local debridement of the trauma and topical application of traditional Chinese medicine for decay, after which the granulation tissue was gradually reddened. The epidermal tissue grew rapidly after the operation, and the wound shrunk to about 1/5 of the original surface after about 10 days and was discharged from the hospital. The wound was completely healed 10 days after discharge. No recurrence was seen at the follow-up examination two years afterwards.
