White particles in the lower eyelid may be a result of eyelid stones in the eye. Eyelid stones are formed when there is a collection of shed, necrotic tissue cells due to long-term chronic inflammation of the eyelid conjunctiva. If there is redness and a foreign body sensation, minor surgery can be done to remove the superficial conjunctival stones. After surgery, anti-inflammatory eye drops and ointments, such as Tobex eye drops and oxyfloxacin eye ointment, can be ordered, and this symptom will usually be significantly relieved. If the stone is not an eyelid stone, further examination is required at the hospital.
