Orlistat is a medication used to treat obesity and clinical trials have shown that it may cause liver damage. Orlistat is indicated for the long-term treatment of weight control in obese or overweight patients. Its adverse effects include bloating, diarrhea, allergy, and liver damage. It is contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug or in breastfeeding and in children under 18 years of age. In clinical studies of adverse reactions to Orlistat, it was found that elevated levels of aminotransferases and/or alkaline phosphatase can occur with the use of Orlistat, and in severe cases, severe liver injury and even liver failure can occur. Therefore, Orlistat should be used correctly under the guidance of a doctor, and should not be used on its own to avoid the occurrence of related adverse reactions.
