If a patient has a rapid heartbeat in the middle of the night, it is likely that the condition is triggered by insomnia, anxiety, and disturbances in the regulation of plant nerves. It is recommended that the patient take drugs that inhibit sympathetic excitability, such as beta-blockers, representative drugs such as betalactam and bisoprolol, which can effectively slow down the heart rate and improve the patient’s symptoms of panic and palpitations. It is also recommended that patients should have an ambulatory electrocardiogram, as well as a check of thyroid function, serum ions and blood count, because some patients, who may have hyperthyroidism, may also have a sudden increase in heart rate in the middle of the night. If the rapid heartbeat is caused by hyperthyroidism, it is recommended that the patient take beta-blockers in combination with oral methimazole to further improve the symptoms.
