Sports Medicine is a basic and clinical multidisciplinary applied medical discipline that combines medicine and sports. It studies medical problems related to sports, including the effects of sports training and lack of sports on health and patients’ bodies, prevention and treatment of sports injuries and diseases, the role of sports in disease prevention and rehabilitation, etc., in order to promote growth and development, enhance physical fitness, improve athletic ability and technical level. The main focus is to study the effects of exercise, training, sports and lack of exercise on health and patients’ body functions, and its results are used for injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. Generally speaking sports medicine is a science that studies the effects of training, competition or general sports exercise on athletes, the general population and the sick and injured. It can guide and improve the athletes’ performance, and can help the public to prevent diseases. The scope of sports medicine includes five main categories: 1, sports physiology; 2, sports biomechanics; 3, sports nutrition; 4, sports traumatology; 5, sports psychology. Sports medicine is developed in the process of combining medical health and sports. As early as around 1000 B.C., China already invoked massage and channeling to prevent and treat diseases. Around 150 B.C., ancient Rome already had sports doctors who treated injuries for gladiators. In 1928, the International Federation of Sports Medicine was established, and after the 1950s, sports medicine developed rapidly in the world, and many sports medicine centers and research institutes were established in some European and American countries, and many universities also conducted scientific research on sports medicine. Chinese sports medicine was developed in the 1950s. In 1958, the National Sports Committee established the Institute of Sports Science, which set up a sports medicine research department, and in 1959, the Institute of Sports Medicine was established in Beijing Medical College, and sports medicine research institutions were also established in various regions of China. In 1978, the Chinese Sports Medicine Association was established and joined the International Federation of Sports Medicine in 1980. Chinese sports medicine is characterized by the combination of Chinese and Western medicine, and has received much attention from the international sports community. What is closely related to the general public is “sports injury”. As long as there is “sports”, there will be “sports injuries”. Sports injuries mainly involve the extremities, which is the scope of traditional orthopedic science. Therefore, sports traumatology and orthopedics are closely related. At present, the name “orthopedic sports medicine” is commonly used internationally. As the division of labor becomes more and more detailed, sports traumatology is gradually separated from traumatic orthopedics and becomes an independent discipline. With the improvement of people’s living standard in China, the people’s demand for sports has become higher and higher, and accordingly, more and more sports trauma has been produced. Due to the uneven development of sports trauma level in China and the lack of sufficient knowledge of sports injury among the general public, many sports traumas cannot get timely and reasonable treatment.
