How long does it take for a torn wound to heal in normal labor?

Normally, exactly how long it takes to fully recover from a wound laceration after a normal birth depends on the extent of the tear. Tears can be caused by a large fetus, abnormal fetal position or a tight soft birth canal during a normal birth. Vaginal lacerations can be divided into 4 degrees, from lacerations of the vaginal mucosa to lacerations of the muscles of the perineum to lacerations of the rectum or anus, and the recovery time varies for different degrees of lacerations. If the laceration is only of the mucous membrane, it usually takes about two weeks; however, if the laceration has reached the muscle or the rectum or even the anus, the recovery time is longer and usually takes about two to three months to fully recover. In addition, it should be noted that the recovery process of postpartum lacerations must pay attention to the hygiene of the pubic area to avoid infection, and avoid eating spicy and irritating foods during the recovery period of the wound.
