Schistosomiasis in the Chinese region is mainly distributed in the Yangtze River basin as well as the region to the south, including Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Chongqing, Shanghai and so on, 13 provinces, cities and autonomous regions, 400 counties and cities, 5161 townships, towns and fields, of which the most serious epidemic is mainly distributed in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in the five provinces of the lake region, including Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, etc., two provinces in the mountainous region, including Sichuan and Yunnan, the most serious epidemic in the middle of the seven provinces is Hunan Province, where the epidemic is not controlled in the region reached 29 counties and cities. In Hunan Province, schistosomiasis is prevalent mainly in the Dongting Lake area and surrounding areas, with epidemic areas reaching 35 counties and cities, such as Yueyang, Xiangyin, Miluo, Changde, and Yiyang, all of which have schistosomiasis epidemic areas. Schistosomiasis is usually contracted by contact with epidemic water containing schistosome caecilians.
