How to treat bladder diverticulum

For bladder diverticula, the size and location of the bladder diverticula should be determined by cystoscopy or cystography or CT examination. If the bladder diverticulum is very small, does not cause infection, and there are no stones within the diverticulum, it can usually be observed; if the diverticulum is relatively large, causing residual urine and recurrent infections, surgery can be considered. There are various ways of surgery, either laparoscopic removal of bladder diverticula or open surgery to remove bladder diverticula, both of which are currently the most common surgical methods. It is important to pay attention to the possibility of cauliflower-like neoplasia within the diverticulum and the possibility of malignant lesions after bladder diverticulum removal. The bladder contents do not become smaller after bladder diverticulum removal and the painful voiding function is usually normal. It is also important to find the primary focus, whether there is bladder outlet obstruction or prostatic hyperplasia, and to treat the primary disease.
